Canterbury Cougars are a family, not-for-profit club, run by volunteers that simply love everything basketball. We offer the opportunity for friends to start their own teams in any age-group from Under 9’s through to Seniors or, join individually and have the opportunity to play at a more competitive grade. With almost 70 teams and 1000+ members, we continue to grow and we actively encourage participation!

Coach a Team

We are always looking for expressions of interest from new coaches or assistants, to fill our paid positions. The club pays for all coaches to undertake a Level 1 coaching course from Basketball Victoria, plus you are supported with a coaching manual and drills to train your teams. Please register your interest for next season.

Volunteer

Hear the Cougars Call…. The success of our family club is heavily reliant on the thankless work of our volunteers and your assistance is needed. Our Board and Executive Committee, Age Group Coordinators and Team Managers, all volunteer their time for the love of the club, their kids & basketball. We are extremely fortunate to have such great support, but always welcome new volunteers every season.

CLUB
HISTORY

The Club began in early 1991 when Barbara Papillo and Jan Molloy, whose sons Sam and Tim were playing basketball for their first season with another club, found out that Graham Hubbard, whose son Michael was a great friend of Sam Papillo, had been a basketball coach.
